A 24-Hour Airport Model for a Prime Ministerial Visit
When the Airport Authority of India needed a scale model of Halwara Airport ready before the Prime Minister's visit, the entire build — CAD to dispatch — had to happen in a single night.
The Brief
The Airport Authority of India approached RD Models for a presentation-grade scale model of Halwara Airport, Punjab, ahead of a visit by the Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The brief arrived with almost no lead time — a 24-hour window between confirmation and the site deadline, with zero room for revisions once production began.
Our Approach
- 01
3D CAD modelling started immediately from the architectural drawings, with the team working through the night in shifts to keep production continuous.
- 02
Precision laser cutting was used for every facade and terminal element to hit the deadline without sacrificing the finish expected for a head-of-state visit.
- 03
Finishing and quality checks were compressed into the final hours before immediate dispatch to the site team for installation ahead of the visit.
The Outcome
The model was completed, dispatched, and installed on site in time for the Prime Minister's visit — delivered with the same standard of craftsmanship as a multi-week build, compressed into 24 hours.
