Guide

What files do architectural model makers need (CAD, Revit, SketchUp)?

Send whatever drawings you have: CAD plans and elevations, Revit/BIM models or SketchUp files are all usable, and concept sketches work if the design is not final. RD Models converts your files into cut-ready production geometry in-house, then confirms scale, materials and deadline before building.

Files that help most

  • Site and floor plans, sections and elevations (DWG or PDF).
  • 3D models from Revit, SketchUp or similar, ideally with layers kept tidy.
  • Landscape and master plans, with roads, paths and planting.
  • Renders and material references that show the intended look.
  • Logos and graphics for bases, labels and signage.

If drawings are not final

Share concept sketches and reference images. The studio can start with massing and update details as the design settles, but late changes affect timelines and cost, so lock key items early.

What happens next

  • The team reviews the files and confirms scale, detail level and materials.
  • You receive an itemised quote, typically within 24–48 hours.
  • Production geometry is prepared in-house for cutting, printing and milling.
